News and Support from The NASUWT
In March 2016 The Independent Teacher Workload Review Group published three reports into teacher workload associated with marking, data management, planning and teaching resources. Collectively the three review groups called upon the Government, the DfE, Regional Schools Commissioners, Ofsted, LAs, MATs, Governing Boards, School Leaders & Senior Management, subject leaders, phase leaders, teachers and other bodies to address the workload issues faced by teachers.
The three reports should be read in every school and staff room and by everyone called to action by the review groups. I wonder if they have been read by senior leadership in your school? Members should be downloading these reports and circulating them widely in their schools, along with the NASUWT, recently launched Phase 5 Instructions on Action.
The NASUWT campaign Empowering Teachers, Empowering You, gives you the resources to start action in your school fighting back against unmanageable workload.
Here in Bedford, members can also attend our General Meeting on 10th Nov 2016 at Bedford Heights, Manton Lane, Bedford, MK41 7NY to meet with local and Regional Officers. They will offer help, support and advice, to fight the unsustainable workloads being imposed on teachers in Bedford schools.
And for those wanting help with Performance Management there is still chance to book a place on “Taking Control of Your Performance Management“, a free briefing on 8th Oct at the Regional Centre in Bury St. Edmunds. Call the Regional Centre on 01284 772300 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
