News and Support from The NASUWT
Government proposals, submitted to the school Teachers’ Review Body, that schools should be allowed to move teachers down from the upper pay scale to the main pay scale, have been condemned by The NASUWT. The NASUWT has called on the STRB to firmly reject the Government proposals.
In its submission to the STRB, the NASUWT has said that the proposal will lead to more abuse of teachers, particularly older teachers, who report that they are increasingly pressured into resigning simply because they are experienced and expensive, although still capable of performing in their role.
The Government claim in their evidence that their proposal has the support of the employers and Headteacher Unions. Clearly classroom teachers have a different view.
