Members of North Beds NASUWT join parents in The Save Our Riverbank Ward Protest

A group of about 4 to 5 hundred people protested at Bedford South Wing Hospital in a campaign to reinstate children’s services at The Riverbank Ward. The protest attracted many parents from the local community who are angry at the removal of services.

Members of Unison were present, many acting as stewards. Mayor of Bedford, Dave Hodgson, was there, demonstrating his support for retaining services in Bedford. Also present was Patrick Hall, former MP and Labour candidate at the next General Election.

Members of The North Beds NASUWT were at the protest, to show their support for children and parents affected by the closure of The Riverbank Ward. 

The organisers of the protest said that this was the first, but not the last, protest until services are returned to Bedford.
