News and Support from The NASUWT
On October 20, NASUWT will be joining thousands of public service workers, trade unionists and members of the public and their families on a mass march through London for a public and peaceful demonstration about jobs in the public and private sector, the attacks on public services and the austerity measures and cuts.
Below you will find all of the information that you need to assist you to find your NASUWT colleagues on the day so that we can all play our part in making the march on 20 October a successful demonstration sending the message that we all want a future that works.
The NASUWT has made a variety of arrangements for NASUWT members to travel to London on 20 October. For details on how members in your area of the country are travelling to participate in the march, please contact your National/Regional Centre.
There will be people arriving from all over the UK at either mainline train stations or coaches from all over the UK. NASUWT will have appointed travel stewards on all of the trains or coaches it is using to travel to London who will give more information on the day.
More detail can be found here for members who will be arriving at mainline or tube stations or using the tube to travel around London coach drops.
If you’re coming from South West London, or on a coach parking at New Covent Garden (mostly those coming to London from the south or south west), you might want to use a special easy riverboat service from Lambeth Pier to join the march at Blackfriars. There will be a boat every ten minutes from 10am to 1pm, taking you straight to the best point to join the march, and it’s free of charge to marchers.
Normal scheduled riverboat services to Blackfriars Pier will be running too, and if you’ve a London travelcard for the day, you may get a discount on fares for those.
Arrangements have been made to accommodate members with specific access requirements who may not be able to march the whole of the route with NASUWT colleagues. View accessibility arrangements.
