Big Question 2012 – NASUWT Opinion Survey Report

In Spring 2012, the NASUWT launched its second annual UK-wide survey of teachers and school leaders – The Big Question 2012.

The Big Question 2012 contained the same core questions as in 2011 and examined the views and experiences of teachers and school leaders across the UK on a range of key issues, including:

  • pupil behaviour and discipline;
  • national policies for education;
  • teachers’ pay and pensions;
  • teacher morale, motivation and job satisfaction.

The Big Question enables a year-on-year comparison to be made on these issues and to identify trends in teacher and school leader opinion.
This publication focuses on the Big Question responses from teachers in England.

You can view and download the Big Question responses from The NASUWT website.

Over 15,000 teachers and school leaders in England responded.

The NASUWT is the largest union representing teachers and school leaders in the UK.

The Union has a programme of research focused on improving the working lives of teachers and school leaders to enable them to support the provision of the highest quality education which is the entitlement of all children and young people. The Big Question surveys are an integral part of that programme.
